Networked thought is about creating value across many minds, about the whole being greater than the sum of its parts. Roam is a tool to help us all think better, to think more, and to make thinking more enjoyable.
We are already able to "network our thoughts" with our past selves in Roam. This capability enables us to connect with our own thinking over a much broader arc of our own lives, facilitating remarkable insights. Paradoxically, in an era of abundant data, information, ideas, and specialized knowledge, the "pinnacle of human understanding" -- wisdom, has all but vanished. Growing our intelligence and knowledge provides us with better tools and methods, ultimately giving ourselves a chance to survive terrible problems.
However, cultivating our wisdom is how we secure our future. Wisdom is our greatest armor, shielding us from having to face such terrible problems in the first place. In solving the problems we face now, we require less new knowledge and more old wisdom!
Our modern tools for thinking fail to connect us with the right answers to the right problems in the right context at the right time.
We need our modern tools of thinking to connect us with these wise sources when we most need them. In the Roam Library, we begin to present the written wisdom that has survived the ages (added bonus: no copyrights). Enjoy!
